Grant
Supporting Teachers’ Initiatives Project (STIP) provides grants to the teachers who have been finalists of the National Teacher Prize. Grants are designed to support teachers in implementing initiatives enhancing their teaching practices and students learning outcomes by acquiring relevant resources, new knowledge/skill and/or experiences. Funding is provisional and depends on the proposer’s compliance with the grant criteria.
Grants are created in cooperation with the National Teacher Prize (part of the Global Teacher Prize), which was conducted for the first time in Georgia in 2017.
As the main criteria, the project should relate to the enhancement of the teaching practice of the teacher in his or her discipline in the school where he or she is engaged. Projects should also meet the following criteria:
- Outline the challenges in the practice of educating teachers and provide specific evidence
- Set respective and specific improvement targets based on the existing situation
- Define performance improvement measurement indicators and sources of verification
- Describe specific strategies for performance improvement and provide relevant arguments
- Contain ways and methods to widely disseminate good practice
The illustrative list of activities are to be supported by:
- Personal coaching/mentorship by qualified experts
- Participation in teacher professional development programs/conferences in Georgia or abroad
- Professional consultations by external experts and modeling of multidisciplinary work with social workers, psychologists, etc.
- Upgrade of professional equipment or school infrastructure
- Conducting various events for students (e.g., festivals, contests, performances, competitions, etc.)
Grant Objectives
To render further support to NTP top ten teachers and thus, pursue the goal of creating a cluster of teaching excellence.
Grantee
The Georgian Coalition for Education for All (GCEFA) was established in 2013. Formed by 15 NGO’s, GCEFA is a member of the Global Campaign for Education, and advocates for the implementation of EFA Declaration principles in Georgia. The aim of the organisation is to improve the quality of education and to achieve equal access to quality education. The coalition is a member of the Global Campaign for Education, a Civil Society movement. The coalition’s mission is to influence the government in order to ensure the right of each individual to get quality education. The movement operates under the auspices of UNESCO’s Global Campaign for Education. GCEFA is carrying out activities with financial support from the Civil Society Fund.
